Malawi’s rice farming is fast evolving. Over the past eight months, Mahindra, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, pioneered a pilot project to successfully mechanise the rice value chain in Karonga and Mlooka. This marked a major shift towards efficiency, food security and economic growth.

Building on this momentum, Mahindra donated Rice Transplanters (RTP) to the Ministry of Agriculture on 19th February. The event, at the government’s Mega Farm Unit, brought together Malawi’s key leaders, policy makers and progressive farmers, including Principal Secretary (Technical, Ministry of Agriculture), AGCOM -Head, Director - Mega Farms, Karonga Agricultural Division Program Manager, rice mega farmers and Hara & Mlooka scheme farmers. Hon. Sam Kawale (Agriculture Minister) graced the event as its Chief Guest. A full display of tractors and implements showcased Mahindra’s commitment to empowering Malawi’s agricultural future.

Following this event, Hello Mahindra farmer meets will take place in Karonga, Salima, and Mangochi; further accelerating this remarkable agricultural revolution.
